Carrying out the electronic driving license check via Auto-Ident (for employees/drivers)

There are two different ways to check driving licenses independently via our Auto-Ident solution - once via our integrated solution in the CARSYNC app or via the ECO web platform (using a smartphone camera or computer webcam).

1. Driver's license check with the CARSYNC app

After successfully setting up the ECO account, each user can also log in to the CARSYNC app. To do this, first download the app:

In the app, first select the "Fleet" (Fuhrpark) option and log in with your email and password.

You will then be redirected to the home screen. There you will find the menu item "Driving license check", which ideally already has a status. This can initially be either "No active driving license" or "Initial check required".

Select the menu item "Driving license check" to proceed with the check.

1.1 Initial control with status "No active driving license"

In the case of the status "No active driving license", you also automatically create your driving license in the system with initial control. To do this, select the green button "Enter and check driving license" and select the type of driving license you want to check. You will then be asked to accept the privacy policy and terms of use.

1.2 Initial check with status "Initial check required"

In the case of the status "Initial check required", a driving license has already been deposited for you and the data of this deposited driving license will then be checked with your initial check. Click on the green button "Check driving license" and continue with the check by accepting the terms of use and following the wizard further.

After you have agreed to the terms of use / privacy policy of our partner IDnow, you can "start identification".

1.3 Carrying out the Check via app

You will now be asked to scan the front and back of your driving license using your smartphone. To do this, hold the front and back of the document up to the camera.

Important: Make sure that your driving license is not dirty and that there are good lighting conditions so that the data can be recorded

If the front and back have been scanned successfully, you must verify yourself by taking a video selfie. To do this, position your face within the displayed frame and press "I'm ready". Wait a few seconds while the 3D FaceMap is uploaded in encrypted form. You will now receive a confirmation that your verification data has been successfully transmitted.

Your control status will initially appear as "In Process" - the editing process may take a few minutes. Once the process is complete, a green tick appears with the status message "Valid".

If the driving license could not be verified, an "invalid check" appears in the check history. Here you can see the date and time of the check.

2. Driver's license check via web browser (ECO platform)

Note: We always recommend control via our app integration (see article above). If this is not possible for technical reasons, there are still two alternative control options:

1. control via mobile smartphone browser

2. control via desktop web browser in connection with webcam.

Due to poor webcam resolutions, we least recommend the method via desktop webcam. In any case, ensure good lighting conditions so that the driver's license can be recognized well. The following Internet browsers are supported: Google Chrome and Safari

First, log in to our CARSYNC portal. To do this, use the e-mail address you selected for registration and the personal password as your individual access data.

In the menu item "Compliance" --> "Driving license check" you will find a list view with your driver name and the current check status. This can be either "No active driving license" or "Initial check required" for initial checks.

Click on the button "Verify my license" in the top right-hand corner to start the checking process.

2.1 Initial control with status "No active driving license"

First select the type of driving license you want to check and accept the privacy policy and terms of use.

In the next step, control via smartphone browser will start.

2.2. Initial check with status "Initial check required

In the case of the status "Initial check required", a driving license object has already been created, e.g. by the fleet manager, and you carry out the check against the stored data.

The subsequent process is analogous to the process of the initial check without an active driving license.

Another window will then open, click on the green button at the bottom right to start the web browser process.

A page from our partner IDNow will then open in a new browser tab to guide you further through the control process. 

At this point you now have two different control options to choose from:

1. Either via the camera of your smartphone (with the help of the QR code) or
2. via the webcam on your computer.

Note: Generally we recommend the first way via the smartphone camera, as the high quality of smartphone cameras allows for a faster control process.

2.2.1. Carrying out the control via smartphone browser

The steps via smartphone camera are described below.

After scanning the QR code, open the link in your smartphone browser:

Note: You may first have to enable webcam use for your mobile browser. You can typically do this in the smartphone settings.

Afterwards, the process is analogous to the app process.

2.2.2 Carrying out the control via computer webcam

If you want to check via webcam and computer, click on the "Continue Desktop Browser" link instead:

In some cases, your Internet browser requests the release of your webcam. You must first grant this. In individual cases, it is necessary to restart the control process. After releasing the camera, close the control and start it again.

Afterwards, the process is analogous to the app process.

Reminders before upcoming checks

In order to meet the legal requirements for driving license checks, CARSYNC has implemented a so-called escalation system. This informs you in good time before the next driving license check is due.

The following escalation levels have been implemented:

1. reminder 14 days before due date
2nd reminder 7 days before due date
The last reminder is sent on the due date. This reminder also contains the information that the driver is no longer allowed to use company vehicles.
